Today at a classroom in Daulat Ram College, the cieling fell down leaving many of the students injured.Police was also called on the spot and a student had to be taken to hospital.
“The college has been neglecting the problem of infrastructure for years now and today it has put lives of students at risk.It created a stampede like situation as a class of 100 odd students had to rush out.The management switched their phones off when they got to know about this and we haven’t been able to reach them since. his is really atrocious. The students as well as the teachers have chosen to boycott the lectures” Bhavya Banarjee,a student who got injured, told DU Express.
It is being told that the class already had way more people than it could accommodate. The incident caused huge panic and international students especially were on the verge of panic and anxiety attacks. The students protested since then and according to our sources, the protest will continue tomorrow as well.
“We are first year students from Political Science Hons.We expect to be safe in our educational institutes. The fact that we have to demand a proper classroom from the management speaks about how oblivious and inconsiderate the governing body is”,Bhavya Banarjee added.
