With this word COLLEGE,period of exploration and experience, what comes to your mind? Fun and happiness? Fear? Love? Anxiety? Seniors? Life goals? Societies? Ragging?
Students always dream of going to college but with that comes a nightmare of being ragged.Being a fresher, you must have come across this word which cost you your self respect, hit your ego hard and grade your confidence.Students finding their way in heaven (college life) usually end up in hell (ragging),the hell which triggers down students’ life and puts a full-stop to the innocent dreamy life.
Coming across so many anti-ragging rallies and posters, I was the luckiest who didn’t let myself down, as over the past few years, awareness amongst students has increased many manifolds.
Earlier, this custom was used to abuse juniors and was a way of getting rid of disappointments and dissatisfaction or simply a way of thwarting with a view in mind that we were being abused and exploited by our seniors so now it’s time to reap grudges. But, with the passage of time, seniors broke this custom and tradition of exploitation and it merely became a method of breaking the ice and interaction.Interaction in a way that, sooner or later, they become the best guidance of one’s life. They create a path from the invisible world to the visible world.Getting admission in a good college is great but if you can find the right seniors it’s an icing on the cake.
The role of seniors has undergone a drastic makeover. From helping juniors in spotting and avoiding potholes and bobby traps by sharing some great experiences, they have learnt things the hard way after committing a dozen of mistakes but they make sure you don’t commit the same and lead an easy life.Like a seasoned guide, they take you through the life in and around college and teach you things which cannot be gained by books on the library shelves or being a book worm.
Seniors can make your college life from ‘walk of ache’ to ‘walk on cake’.
