Comtalk 2018 started with lamp lighting ceremony by Guest of Honour Sh. Ashok Pal Singh, Senior DDG, India Posts, and Sh. Subodh Kaushik, Former GM & Advisor, PNB, honorable Principal JDMC, Dr.Swati Pal, Dr. Amita Charan, Head of the department, Department of Commerce, JDMC, Dr. Vibha Jain, Convenor, Department of Commerce, JDMC. Later, the Principal, Dr.Swati Pal, welcomed the speakers, faculty and students. Dr. Amita Charan welcomed the eminent experts, faculty, students and entire team of Comtalk 2018.She emphasized on cautions to be taken while using technology especially by women as women are soft target for cyber-crime.The technical session was introduced by Ms.Bhawna Pal, Assistant Professor in the Department and Co Convenor of Commerce Association. Hospitality of the guests and participants was very well taken care by Ms. Anuradha Goel and Mr. Stanzin, Assistant Professors and Co Convenors of Commerce Association.

Sh. Ashok Pal Singh, Senior DDG, India Posts. (Guest of Honour) mentioned that cyber world is to be endorsed and there is no need to run away from the ecosystem we live in and talked about benefits of digital id, e-KYC, and concluded that the journey towards digital world is going to be exciting and fruitful. He also claimed that government is in the process of defining the framework for more security in case of cyber threats.

Sh. Subodh Kaushik, Former GM & Advisor, PNB concurred with the observation that there is always a risk in the cyber world. He talked about Nirav Modi case to throw light on laws, compliances and stringent measures in the cyber world. He talked in brief about the levels of security in Aadhaar system. Sh. Mitesh Thakker, CEO, Adoroi Tech Ventures Pvt Ltd. insisted on dealing with the risks of cyber world not only with the laws rather by hitting the problem where it lies. He mainly spoke about cyber security and identity threats.

The panel discussion was chaired by Sh. Ashok Pal Singh, Senior DDG, India Posts, Advocate Prasanna S., Computer Scientist/ Coder turned Lawyer and Sh. Mitesh Thakker, CEO, Adoroi Tech Ventures Pvt Ltd. The theme of the event- Technology Based Identification: A Facilitator of Good Governance or a Tool for Public Surveillance. Sh. Ashok Singh initiated the discussion by briefly introducing the theme and he asked other panel discussants to present their views.

Advocate Prasanna S., Computer Scientist/ Coder turned Lawyer referred to ‘Right to privacy’ and idea of consent while addressing the issue of cyber security. He talked about Aadhaar as a tool for public surveillance. Sh. Mitesh Thakker, CEO, Adoroi Tech Ventures Pvt Ltd. suggested that law alone cannot solve all the problems related to cyber security. He talked about misuse and vulnerability of OTPs.

Dr. Vibha Jain, Convenor, Commerce Association, Department of Commerce, JDMC, thanked all the guests and experts for giving their valuable suggestions during Comtalk 2018. She thanked media persons, sponsors and students for making Comtalk a grand success.

After the discussion, various competitions were held in the college premises. Seal the Deal, Brand Crunchers, My Take, Word War and Ad Mad are few of them. Over 200 students participated in the events from over 14 institutions of Delhi NCR. Some winners from Word War – The Debate Competition include Shivangi Arora from Maharaja SurajMal College who spoke for the motion and she secured the 1st Position; Saurabh Dubey from Satyawati College, 2nd Position; Muskan Goyal from Janki Devi Memorial College and she was also the best interjector of the competition. From My Take – The Video Shooting Competition, Monika Malik, Mansi, Ritika from JDMC secured 1st position and Ansh Sehdev and Vishwajeet Priyadarshi from Sri Venkateswara College secured 2nd position. Comtalk 2018 marked its end with a valedictory session to reward the competition winners.
