Situated in North Campus,Delhi University’s Daulat Ram College (DRC) is a well known college of Delhi University.Any college is incomplete without proper infrastructure facilities and Daulat Ram College seems not to worry about its infrastructural issues. Many students have filed complaints regarding the library of college which is closed since long.
The library is a crucial space required by students and teachers both. Even after filing regular complaints the management committee of Daulat Ram College, they seem to do nothing about it.
“This is my 3rd year in this college and I have been complaining since the past 2 years about one or the other prevailing issue here, but the Principal and the Management just don’t want to work for us or for the betterment of college. DRC’s Library is not the only issue, college’s canteen is also in a pathetic situation.” said Muskan Dhayal, a student of Commerce Department.
“I was the DRC hostel union Secretary last year and the Hostel being one of the best DU hostels is closed now, around 200 hostellers are left with no option but to shift to PG’s. There’s an urgent need for the university to interfere in the mismanagement happening in college.” said Vidhi, a student studying Commerce at the college.

Even after receiving numerous complaints, the DRC Library is closed and no action has been taken yet in this regard. The hostel which is one of the best hostels in the University is closed due to the pending case between the Principal of Daulat Ram College and the Chairperson. After reading into the dispute, the High Court has ordered that the DRC hostel will reopen only when the renovation is done. Till date the process of renovation has not been initiated and many students are left with no choice but to shift into expensive accommodation nearby.
A lot of complaints have been sent to the management committee, various heads, staff members and the Principal but they haven’t responded yet.Maybe, it’s time that Delhi University steps in and takes action against the poor management and ignorant attitude of the authorities because in between this management tussle, it is the students who suffer.
