Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has summoned the principal of Hindu College, seeking a detailed report related to hostel fees structure and rules for girl students. The commission also sought to know what steps have been taken by the authorities of the Delhi University college to ensure equal hostel fees and non-discriminatory rules for girls and boys studying there.
Though the college in its response informed the commission steps were being taken to ensure non-discriminatory and equal rules for both boys and girls but DCW has received complaints about the college deciding to shut down the girl’s hostel.
“The commission has been informed that the hostel fees and hostel rules for girls continue to be discriminatory and different from that of boys’ hostel in Hindu College” the DCW letter said.
The commission has asked the Hindu College Principal to appear before it on 2nd August 2017,failing which “you will be subjected to the consequences of non-attendance as provided in law“.
