With protests increasing day by day, the Delhi University administration resorted to holding a meeting with DU Teachers’ Association, overnight and requested them to withdraw with the protests and the agitation.
According to the University administration, they are ready to discuss and resolve all matters in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, while the DU Teachers have been protesting from last many days and have occupied the VC office to get their demands fulfilled.
The decision to go on the strike and capture the VC Office was made after the ciruclar was issues on 28th August which makes it compulsory for appointing guest teachers to fill up any or all the vacancies that arise for the first time in this academic session.
But the Delhi University Teachers’ Association is on a strike as they are demanding for the circular to be withdrawn and follow-up regulations for the absorption of ad-hoc teachers. As per the rules, the contract with the ad-hoc teachers gets renewed every 4 months but it hasn’t happened after the 28th August circular came out, which has put almost 4,500 jobs on stake.
