Delhi University Among 24 Institutes Recommended For ‘Institute Of Eminence’ Tag

The Empowered Expert Committee (EEC) has recommended 24 more higher education institutions to consider for the tag of ‘Institutes of Eminence’. The latest recommended list includes 12 public and 12 private institutions of higher learning in the country.

Public institutes which made it to the list apart from Delhi University includes IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, Jadavpur University, Anna University, Banaras Hindu University, Tezpur University, Savithribai Phule Pune University, University of Hyderabad, Aligarh Muslim University, Panjab University and Andhra University.

Some prominent private institutes which made it to the list include VIT Vellore, Shiv Nadar University, Azim Premji University,Ashoka University and OP Jindal Global University.

Public institutes in addition to autonomy, will also get Rs 1,000 crore each from the HRD Ministry.The government will offer no financial assistance to the private institutes.
