Delhi University Invites Research Proposals from Faculty

Delhi University has opened submissions for a one-year faculty research proposal (FRP) from DU faculty members. Interested faculty members can work alone or in conjunction with other researchers from inside or outside the university, including colleges. The proposal must be submitted online at ioe.du.ac.in. by September 30.

DU Invites Research Proposals

In an official notice released on the university’s website, the varsity has specified the eligibility criteria for the faculty members to send in research proposals. The notice also includes details regarding grants for various departments and criteria for screening research publications.

“In continuation of the commitment to support and expand its research profile, the University under the Institution of Eminence (IoE), scheme invites short-term research proposals (one year duration) from the faculty members of the University Department for the year 2021-22.”, the notice read.

Faculty members of University of Delhi are welcome to submit research projects individually or in conjunction with other academics. They can collaborate with scholars both from inside and beyond the University, including from Colleges.

Criteria for Research Topic

The research topic criteria laid down by the university are as follows:

  1. The suggested research should focus on an intellectual question with a precise hypothesis and goal(s).
  2. The study proposal should include clearly defined objectives and expected outcomes that must be met within the project’s time frame.
  3. The experimental task may be designed in such a way that the PI/Co-laboratory PI’s already has the necessary software/equipment/machinery.
  4. The application should be submitted via the internet at http://ioe.du.ac.in/.

Grants for Different Departments

The maximum financial assistance ranges from INR 1,50,000 to INR 3,00,000. For Humanities/Law department, the grant amount is INR 1.5 lakh, whereas for Social Sciences/Interdisciplinary & Mathematical Sciences, the grant amount is up to INR 1.75 lakh. Further, for Interdisciplinary & Applied Sciences, the grant amount is INR 3 lakh.

Eligibility Criteria for Faculty Members

At the time of submitting the project proposal, the faculty member must be a permanent employee of DU with at least 12 months of service remaining until superannuation. However, the ad-hoc faculty in the departments and colleges can join the research as co-investigators.
