Delhi University may not have physical classes this year. The varsity has released a notice that suggests that the university may not be conducting any physical classes this year. The notice also states that internals must also be carried online.
Delhi University has released a notification recently for the procedure to mark internal assessments, projects, and viva voice for the third and fifth-semester exams in December 2020. The notification was addressed to the Principals of all the Delhi University colleges and Deans of various departments of Delhi University. The notice hints at the absence of physical classes this semester.
All the classes are to be conducted online now, the notice stated. The university also stated that in place of three existing components of internal assessment such as class test, tutorial test, and attendance, only one component would be defined as internal assessment and would be carried out. While for SOL this methodology would not be followed by the university.
The notice read, “Internal assessment of the students must also be carried out using IT tools. All teachers should give assignments to the students in the prescribed format in email and google classroom. Students would have to submit the solved assignments to the teacher via email at a defined time. After evaluation, the respective teacher will submit the result to the principal and the head of the department.”
According to the university, some exercises can be followed by the teachers online to get familiar with the procedure. The viva voice can be conducted through Zoom or any other safe online teaching platform specified by the teacher, said the notice.
Delhi University has also informed that the Deans and the Principals must consider the present situation for internships and apprenticeship of the students. They must be allowed to take online internships and activities that can be carried out digitally from home.
Even the dissertations of various programs at the university, be it Undergraduate or Postgraduate would be conducted based on written assignments keeping in mind the present situations. The notice also asked teachers to look for other assignments and projects instead of conducting lab experiments.
