Delhi University Organises 96th Convocation

The 96th Convocation of DU was hosted on Monday where the event witnessed three lakh students graduating from the University. The Vice Chancellor, Mr. Yogesh Tyagi explained that how it was a record breaking feat and spoke about the university’s status as an “Institution of Eminence” awarded by Human Resource Development Minister. The V.C  even shared his concerns towards the issues related to the varsity as raised by teachers association, Academic and Executive Council Members.

Ramesh Pokhriyal, the HRD Minister was the Chief Guest of the event who presented 300 Gold medals to the students at the convocation. Three lakh students including a 62 year old Army Captain, Mr. Virender Singh received their degrees respectively. Among these three lakh students almost 700 students were present while others were regarded as absentees.

The University awarded 592 Doctoral Degrees, 86 D.M/M.CH Degrees in person along with more than 305 Medal and Prizes to the students of the University. The Degrees of two academic years 2017-18 and 2018-19 were presented.

The HRD Minister applauded the University for its great performance and encouraged the students for greater progress. He even shared pictures of the event on his social media account, expressing his gratitude towards the University and its immense contribution to the world. He even explained how the journey of imparting world class education was yet to be covered by DU and it is going to have its 100 years anniversary in 2022.

Apart from this, Yogesh Tyagi explained how the status of IoE will provide good financial and human resources to the University. It would help the university to rank up. Also, he stated that he was well aware of the issues related to the misgivings of the title of IoE and promised that appropriate steps would be taken in order to resolve the controversies.
