University of Delhi: The students of the College of Vocational Studies have come forward to file a police complaint against two teachers of the Computer Science department at the college. A group of students have accused the teachers – Mr Dhananjay Singh and Mr Ashish Kumar Jha of persistently using ‘inappropriate language and derogatory comments in the class.’

The complaint has been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP South) from the SC/ST department. The students found multiple complaints to the Principal being unaddressed. The students maintained that they had filed around 25 complaints to the Dean and the Vice-Chancellor of the University as well. The students have, also, alleged that the accused teachers had threatened them with low grades in the Internal Assessments if they planned to file any complaint against them.

The above-mentioned faculty members stand accused of using statements such as, “Tujhe toh next semester dekh lunga main,” Viva mai kaise pass hoge, we will see,” among many others. Moreover, they have been attributed of interfering in the External viva voce of the students and influencing the External examiner into poorly grading the examinees with phrases like, “Isko kuch nahi aata, yeh kya batayegi,” “Ye padhenge Computer Science,” etc. The students, who were members of extra-curricular societies in the college, have reported similar incidents of being harassed through obscene words and aggressive, verbal threats of low grades in the Internal Assessments.

The students have reported numerous cases of mental illness among the victims of the aforementioned instances of harassment. But their complaints went largely unanswered by the concerned authorities.
