Delhi University,Amity And JNU Students Arrested In Drug Crackdown During New Year Celebrations

Days before the New Year’s eve celebrations,the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested four students of the Delhi University, Amity University and JawaharLal Nehru University for their alleged involvement in a drugs supply racket.

They have seized 1.14 kg of charas (cannabis) and three LSD (Lysergic acid Diethylamide) blot papers which were to be supplied to college students around North Campus for New Year’s eve.

They have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).The students are from well known colleges of the city.One of the accused is from Hindu College while others are from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Amity University.

SK Jha,NCB Deputy Director General (North) said that three students used to have charas which was provided to them by a student of Hindu College.The charas was sourced from Himachal Pradesh.

“The arrested students have also informed that abuse of drugs is rampant in the Delhi University campus area. They have given information about drug peddlers and others involved in the racket which is further being verified,” SK Jha told Hindustan Times.
