The Chemistry Department of Delhi University is being blamed for showing partiality in the appointment of PhD supervisors. The department is being blamed of following the old rules in appointment rather than the revised rules which were brought under consideration in the recent Academic Council meeting. The department has refused to allow 30 college teachers to apply for the appointment.

The previous rule required the teachers to show the proof of at least three years of experience and also allowed the authorities to visit their college to make sure of their experience. The new rule, however, allowed the professor with five publications in a journal or an associate professor with two journal publications to apply for the supervisor’s post. The teachers also claimed that the department was following a discriminatory policy against college teachers to stop them from their research.
