Delhi University’s School Of Open Learning Set To Launch Ten New Courses

Delhi University’s School of Open Learning is planning to introduce 10 new courses in its curriculum for the students from this academic session.The well known institution in the field of distance education has taken this step to enable students to pursue course of their choice,since many students are not able to enroll in their desired courses due to limited seats and high cut offs.

“When we studied the number of applications received for these courses, we found that many students had applied but only limited number got admission.There is a lot of demand for these courses among students so we are providing a chance for students to study these courses through distance medium,” said CS Dubey,Director of School of Open Learning.

Apart from the already offered Under Graduate courses- B.com(Prog), B.com(Hons),BA(Prog),B.A.English(Hons),B.A.(Hons)Political Science, and two post graduate courses -M.A. History,Hindi,Sanskrit,Political Science and M.Com,SOL is planning to add the following Under Graduate  and Vocational courses to its offerings this year-

  1. B.Sc(Honors) Mathematics
  2. B.A.(Honors) Economics
  3. B.A.(Honors) History
  4. B.A.(Honors) Hindi
  5. B.A.(Honors) Psychology
  6. B.A.(Honors) Sanskrit
  7. B.A.(Honors) Hindi Journalism
  8. B Voc in Human Resource Management
  9. B Voc in Office Management and Secretarial Practices
  10. B Voc in Marketing Management and Retail Business

After the approval of the course structure and syllabus,by the Governing Body(GB),a proforma containing the details has been sent to the university for necessary approval by the university administration.Another approval from the Distance Education Board is required before starting the courses.

“We already have DEB approval for the courses that are being run. We will send the proposal to start the new courses to DEB and if we get approval then students can apply for these courses when admission process starts in end June,” CS Dubey added.
