DUTA Elections 2017 : In a closely contested DUTA Elections 2017 held on 31st August 2017,Left backed Democratic Teacher Front’s (DTF) Rajib Ray managed to beat the RSS backed¬†National Democratic Teacher’s (NDT) candidate VS Negi for the post of President by a margin of 261 votes.
Rajib Ray a teacher at Kirori Mal College got 2636 votes while VS Negi a teacher at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College got 2375 votes.
Rajib Ray will also lead the Federation of Central University Teachers Associations (FEDCUTA) which is a collective body of teachers from central universities.
In DUTA’s elected Executive Committee of 15 members, four are from the NDTF. With the president they will elect the vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and five more members to the executive council.
The teachers of Delhi University have sent out a strong message to the government by siding with the DTF.This result might affect the DUSU Elections where ABVP hasn’t lost in the last few years.Lets wait and watch with whom the students side with in the upcoming elections on 12th September 2017.
