Department of Journalism, Lady Shri Ram College For Women Hosts Annual Academic Meet – Juxtapose

Department of Journalism of Lady Shri Ram College for Women hosted its Annual Academic Meet—Juxtapose, on the 21st and 22nd of February in the college premises.Spread over two-days, Juxtapose is a Department of Journalism initiative and is organized year-after-year.

This year, Juxtapose revolved around the theme—”Do We Dare: Will Media Change the Universe?” and the nine offline events and two online events spread over two days addressed the Changing aspects of media, Commercialization of news, Coverage and Press laws, and Future of media amongst others.

The World Media Meet, in which the participants deliberated on “War Coverage and Press Laws.” A Panel Discussion on the theme: “The Overlapping Circles of Media and Social Conscience,” was moderated by Dr. Anil Dutta Mishra and had Mr. Mayank Aggarwal, Ms. Urmi Goswami, Mr. Pallava Bagla and Ms. Kanchi Kohli as the panelists.

22nd of February, Day two of Juxtapose began with an Open Mic session bilingually on the topic “Khwab: Haafiza ya Hakeekat.” Day 2 also witnessed a Panel Discussion on the theme: “The Evolving Paradigms of Modern Day Media Coverage,” which was moderated by Ms. Neha Mathews and had Ms. Kaveree Bamzai and Ms. Ruhi Kandhari as the panelists.

Vox Pop- the Annual Turncoat Debate was: “Digital Media Platform Live up To Their Promise of Data Security.” The department also organized a Media Quiz in association with LSR’s Quiz Society and had questions regarding award shows, television shows, media, Bollywood, video games, pop culture, and other interesting topics.

A new addition to the list of competitive events was Camera Chronicles—a Photo Series on Day 1 on the theme: “Metamorphosis- A Journey of Bravery/Courage,” and to click Individual Photographs on Day 2 on the theme: “Ummeed/Hope.”

The two online events were Panorama, the online photography event with the theme “Seasonal Hues” and the Meme Making Competition on the theme “Give an update to your favorite fictional character.”

Juxtapose 2020 was a success and was an amalgamation of students across all disciplines and fields.
