DU ADMISSIONS 2020: THIRD CUT-OFF LIST EXPECTED TO RELEASE TODAY

The University of Delhi is expected to announce its third cut-off list today, i.e. on Saturday. While the admissions for the second cut-off list came to an end, more than 82 per cent seats have already been filled in most of the colleges of University of Delhi.

“While 35,500 seats were filled under first cut off list, 22,147 seats have been filled under second cut off list. There are total 70,000 seats in undergraduate courses in the varsity,” a senior official of Delhi University said.

The University of Delhi had released its second cut-off list on last Saturday, i.e. on 17 October with most of the courses being closed for admissions. Some programme also noted a minor decline the score that is usually required for the admission in the varsity.

Lady Shri Ram College for Women had announced 100 per cent cut-off for its three most popular courses – BA Economics Honours, BA Political Science Honours and BA Psychology Honours.

BA Journalism Honours in Lady Shri Ram College for Women was available at a cut-off of 99.50 per cent marks in the first cut-off and was still available at 99.25 per cent marks in the second cut-off list. The first cut-off list was released on October 10, followed by the second list on October 17.

Almost 50 per cent of the seats have been filled under the first cut-off list and the University of Delhi has 70,000 undergraduate seats in total. The admissions under the second cut-off list ended on October 21.

According to the officials in Delhi University, the DU 2020 cut-off went high since many Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students have scored more than 95 per cent marks in their board exams. The varsity has received more than 2 lakh applications from CBSE board students reported NDTV.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic the admission process is completely being held online to avoid any public gatherings.
