After the meeting of the Standing Committee on Friday, Delhi University has decided the mode of Entrance exams. Students appearing for the examination at all the centres in Delhi-NCR will have the choice between online and offline test. Computer based test has been made mandatory for all the remaining 17 cities’ centres in the country. The online registration process for these Entrance based courses begins from 31 MAY 2017.

Delhi University tried to make the online entrance exam compulsory for all prevailing centres but faced great protests from ABVP, DUSU, and a group of teachers. The dissenting parties were of the view that students from backward backgrounds will face trouble while sitting for an online exam. ABVP also added that DU has not consulted the Student’s Union or  teachers before arriving to this decision.

Therefore, after huge opposition, the Standing Committee on yesterday, decided to give relief to the students, who will enroll for the exam in Delhi-NCR centres, by providing the choice between online or pen-paper based test. The choice is valid for all PG, entrance based UG, M.PHIL and PHd courses.

Dr. Pankaj Garg, member of the Standing Committee declared that now Delhi-NCR centres will have the choice of mode of examination whereas rest of the centres in various cities will not have any such option. He also mentioned that if any student faces problem with online tests, then he/she can register themselves for the offline test.
