DU Admissions 2017 : Guide To Calculate Your Best Of Four Percentage

Lakhs of students all across India apply to University of Delhi every year for its 56,000 Undergraduate seats.While,the application process started from 22nd May 2017 and will go on till 12th June 2017,most of the applicants aren’t aware of the Best of Four Percentage calculation criteria.In this article we bring to you the procedure to calculate your Best of Four score.

BEST OF FOUR CALCULATION FOR SCIENCE & HUMANITIES COURSES-

1st Subject : One Language (English or Hindi : Core/Functional/Elective)

2nd Subject : The subject you wish to study (If the chosen subject isn’t included then there would be a 2.5% deduction)

3rd & 4th Subject : Any 2 subjects from List A-

Please Note : 

1. If the chosen subject isn’t a part of List A then there would be a deduction of 2.5% from the overall score.

2. For science courses,the candidate must have secured at least 70% marks in PCM/PCB/PCMB theory exams.In case,the subject under consideration doesn’t meet the requirement of 70% theory component and 30% practical component then the marks of theory and practical must be converted on pro rata basis.

LIST C1- There are two parts of the list. 

PART 1 (Languages)
English
Hindi
PART 2 (Subjects)
Mathematics
Accountancy
Business Studies/Commerce
Economics

 

List C2 Comprises of the following subjects. 

Botany
Geography
Zoology
Philosophy
Statistics
Business Mathematics
Physics
Biology/ Biotechnology
History
Political Science
Chemistry
Home Science
Psychology
Computer Science/ Informatics Practices
Legal Studies
Sociology

For B.Com(Hons),a student will have to choose one language from List C1- Part 1 and three subjects from Part 2. If the subjects are chosen in the specified manner, he/ she will not face any deduction of marks. 

If a student chooses subjects from List C2, he/she will have a disadvantage of 1% per subject. 

If a students chooses a subject which is not included in List C1- Part 2 or List C2, a deduction of 2.5% per subject will be imposed.

It is important for a student to have studied either Mathematics or Business Mathematics in Class 12 to study BCom Honours. There is no such requirement of Maths for students who wish to study BCom Prog.

It is not compulsory to add Mathematics marks in Best of Four calculation to study BCom Honours.
