DU Admissions Day One : High Cutoffs,Overloaded Website And Confused Aspirants

High cutoffs and an overloaded Delhi University website played a spoilsport on Day 1 of DU Undergraduate admissions 2017.The set of rules and guidelines laid down by the university also left the aspirants and their parents confused with most of them giving the admission process on Day 1 a miss.Colleges on Tuesday are expected to witness a high number of applicants because of the 2 day gap caused in the admission process on account of Sunday and Eid on Monday.

The website was overloaded for major portion of the day with aspirants not being able to check the cutoffs and make to college on time. Many aspirants who were able to secure admission today in their choice of college couldn’t pay the fee online as the tab of online fee payment wasn’t updated on the admission portal.

A number of aspirants couldn’t take admission today because of non availability of the original mark sheet as many state boards haven’t issued an original mark sheet.Students belonging to Uttar Pradesh,Kerala,Assam & Tamil Nadu were denied admission at various colleges.

My son has made it through Hindu College and almost every college but Hindu College has denied him admission because he isn’t having the original mark sheet. What’s our mistake if UP Board hasn’t issued mark sheets yet? We’re really tensed as he might miss out on getting admission in his dream Delhi University college” said a parent hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

Though this year cutoff’s is being appreciated everywhere as a ‘more realistic cutoff’ but in true sense its far away from reality.Off campus colleges chose to go beyond cutoffs of North Campus colleges and are witnessing an empty show in their college while SGTB Khalsa’s demand of 99.66% for BSC (Hons) Electronics is nothing short of the perfect number.

University should’ve made sure that no technical glitches take place this year and the website is able to handle the traffic. Also,it’s the second year of online fee payment and things are looking no better than what they were last year.
