DU ADMISSION 2020: Special Drive and Spot Admission Postponed

DU Admission 2020: Delhi University has delayed the release of special drive cut-off and spot admissions for the time being. This step comes in response from DU as many of the university departments and officials have been affected by the virulent Coronavirus.

“Many of the University Departments and Officials have been affected by COVID – 19. Due to this, the Spot admission to UG entrance based courses and special cut-Off for UG merit-based courses has been deferred till further notice,” DU said in a statement.

There has been enrollment of approximate 65,000 students under the five cut off lists for merit-based courses released by the university and three lists of selected candidates for the entrance based courses. The university will conduct a ‘special drive’ for all those applicants who were eligible for admissions but could not apply on time and fill the seats. A special cut off was scheduled to fill the remaining seats in merit-based courses on November 18.

But the students can view the numbers of vacant seats available course and category wise on November 18. The official statement added, “However, as announced earlier, the University of Delhi shall display the course-wise and category-wise vacant seats in each college on18th November 2020.”

Dean of admissions Shobha Bagai said according to the bulletin of information for undergraduate courses, the cutoff for special admissions will be the last one declared by a college for a course.

PG Admissions at DU to start from November 18

Meanwhile, DU PG admission 2020 will begin on November 18. The University asked the PG applicants to update their final year mark sheet on the official website. For students whose results have not been announced yet, DU said that they will be admitted provisionally.

“The admission to some of the courses is either based only through the entrance or through both entrance and merit. All the applicants whose final year results have been declared by the University must update their marks on their dashboard. Applicants whose final year result of the qualifying examination has not been declared yet should wait to update their marks,” an official statement said.
