University of Delhi: In the petition filed against the University of Delhi demanding to scrap the OBE, the Honorable Judge has mentioned the new system of examination as “beneficial for the students.” The University has presented the OBE as an optional scheme for the students, who can appear for the conventional mode of examinations at a later date, probably sometime around September and the Judge has, therefore, ruled out the contention against OBE.

The Judge has also pronounced that the students, who do not appear for the OBE and choose to appear in the conventional mode of examinations, shall be allowed to provisionally appear for the entrance exams to the post-graduation courses in the University, subject to clearing the graduation exams that will be conducted in September. The University has also argued that the study resources are available online because the syllabus has remained unchanged for many years now.

The Judge has also advised the colleges to provide the students with the details on the infrastructure facilities in their towns, villages or cities if they lack the necessary technology at their homes. The Judge has also asked the University to ensure quick availability of the Mock Tests. While the Academic Council of the University has not approved of the OBE, the Court has dismissed the issue of the validity of the OBE as the petition filed against the OBE did not deal with the powers of the Academic Council. The matter, therefore, has been disposed of by the High Court of Delhi.
