DU Exams 2020 : Delhi University Issues Clarification on Promotion

University of Delhi: The University has issued a notice for the students of the intermediate semester/term with reference to the former notice issued on June 04, 2020, mentioning the provision of carrying-forward. The previous notification mentioned that the intermediate students shall be awarded a composite grade of 50% marks on the basis of the Internal Assessments and 50% on the basis of the marks in the previous semester/year. It also mentioned that students with no previous grades shall be wholly evaluated on the basis of the marks in their Internal Assessments of the contemporary semester/term.

The new notification issues clarification related to the grading and promotion in the academic year 2019-2020. The students with Essential Repeats (ER) shall be promoted to the next year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic as a one-time measure but may clear the examinations for the course in which he/she has failed/remained absent when examinations are held next year as per the cycle of the semester and the span period.

The students admitted in the Semester Mode of study shall be allowed to improve their grades in the succeeding year as per the cycle of the semester. The students admitted in the Annual Mode of examinations along with the students of the School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) shall be awarded a composite grade of 50% marks on the basis of the Internal Assessments and 50% on the basis of the marks in the previous year. However, final year students and ex-students of both the years will have to appear for the Open Book Examinations (OBE).
