DU Exams 2020 : Delhi University Likely To Cancel Semester Exams This Year

Delhi University is considering cancellation of the semester examination for first and second-year students due to the recent outbreak of coronavirus across the country. The proposal has been forwarded by senior officials of the University to the University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi in a video conference where various issues were discussed.

The argument made to back the proposal was the fact that first-year students are highest in number followed by second-year students at Delhi University. The cancellation of the semester examination will ensure that the next academic session starts according to schedule. Since the number of students is very high, it is difficult to conduct examinations of all the students and the students can be passed on the basis of promotion or on the basis of the past academic record. There is still no update on whether the examination will be held for final year students or not but it would be a huge challenge for the University to conduct semester examination under such chaos.

The proposal is yet to be accepted by the University Vice-Chancellor. While this proposal is yet to be accepted or rejected it has surely caused a lot of confusion among students, we’ve received over a hundred messages in the last 24 hours on various social media platforms with students asking us about this development.

The officials have also proposed to declare summer vacation from 15th April 2020 to 15th May 2020.
