August 10 has been locked as the new date to commence the final year online Open Book Examinations(OBE). The decision came on 14 July when the Delhi High Court gave the new dates for the exams which would affect 2.7 lakh students. The Court directed that the OBE will start from August 10 and be concluded on August 31.
Delhi University on Tuesday filed an affidavit and stated the first set of mock tests to start from 31 July but the bench led by Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad modified the date to 27 July.
The University initially decided to conduct the second set of mock tests on August 4 but by the end of the court hearing, the date had changed to August 1. The court told the university to keep the schedule in mind and also demanded no delay in the declaration of date for evaluation and results.
1st Mock Test on July 27, 2nd Mock Test on August 1, OBE Exams on August 10 till August 31
Going by the Affidavit, the University would evaluate and declare the result by November 30 but the Court has asked to give new and compressed dates.
The University also informed the Court that those students who are unable to give the online exams due to any circumstances will be allowed to give offline exams once the university gates are officially open.
According to India Today, “the court was very critical of the way the initial OBE mock tests were conducted and asked the University to announce a final date sheet for the conduction for final exams for terminal semester students”.
