University of Delhi: The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has commended the suggestions of the Professor RC Kuhad committee to cancel the examinations for the final year students. The Ministry of HRD has advised the University Grants Commission (UGC) to revise the guidelines issued for the examinations of the intermediate and terminal year students and for the commencement of the academic session as well.

The DUTA has been protesting against the administration’s decision to conduct the OBE for the terminal year students in the notification dated May 14, 2020. It has constantly criticized the ‘bureaucratic approach’ of the administration in its exclusion of the elected teacher representatives to the Working Group of Examinations. Addressing the ‘discriminatory’ attitude of the OBE toward a large section of the students, the DUTA has highlighted the erosion of ‘the sanctity of the examination process.’

Subsequently, the DUTA has yet again asked the Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Tyagi to roll back the provision of the OBE as the uncertainty surrounding the OBE is putting the students in a state of ‘trauma.’ With over 4 lakh terminal year students in Under-graduation and Post-graduation stuck in a touch-and-go situation, the DUTA has amalgamated their reception of the recommendation with a request for the evaluation of the students on the basis of a composite grade of the Internal Assessments and the preceding semesters.
