DU Famous Alumni: Delhi University is a prestigious, well-known institution of higher education in India. Started with three colleges, two faculties and 750 students in 1922, the University of Delhi has grown enormously today.

1. Subramanian SwamyÂ
Subramanian Swamy is a member of Rajya Sabha. He’s a seasoned politician, economist, and a statistician. In the past, he has also been a part of the Planning Commission of India. He was also a Cabinet Minister in the government of Chandra Shekhar. He earned his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Hindu College. He is well known for writing on foreign affairs of India with Pakistan, People’s Republic of China and Israel.
2. Sheila DikshitÂ
Sheila Dikshit was an Indian politician. She served as the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years i.e., from 1998 till 2014 leading Congress to victory in three consecutive elections in Delhi. She has also served as the Governor of Kerala but resigned within five months. She holds a Masters degree in History from Miranda House. Sheila Dikshit is known for transforming Delhi during her 15-year rule.
3. Arun JaitleyÂ
Arun Jaitley is an Indian politician who has been the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the past i.e., from 2014 till 2019. Jaitley is a member of Bhartiya Janta Party and has held positions in the field of Defense, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Law and Justice and Commerce and Industry. He is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. Arun Jaitley graduated with a Bachelors of Commerce from the reputed Shri Ram College of Commerce.
4. Maneka GandhiÂ
Maneka Gandhi is a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party and also a member of Lok Sabha. She has written books on law, etymology and animal welfare. She has been a minister in four different governments, recently in Narendra Modi’s government from 2014 till 2019 she was given Women and Child Development portfolio. She is an environmentalist and an animal rights activist and founded the organization, “People for Animals” in 1992. She is an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
5. Shashi Tharoor
Shashi Tharoor is a politician, writer, and a former international diplomat. He is currently a Member of Lok Sabha. He was working at the United Nations, rising to the rank of Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information in 2001. He graduated with a History degree from St Stephen’s College.
