New Academic Block at KNCÂ
As per an official statement issued by the college, the new academic block is part of the OBC infrastructure extension plan. This plan includes three levels of lecture halls and laboratories. As for the older campus, Indira Gandhi had laid the foundation stone for the current structure in 1972. It was then inaugurated by former President Shri V.V. Giri in 1974.
Details of New Block
The new building will have a basement, ground level, mezzanine floor, and first floor, with a total area of 1,250 square metres. On the ground floor, there will be a lecture hall with seating for 180 people. The plan also contains provisions about a green room, equipment room, storeroom, and restrooms, including those for the disabled. There will further be nine tutorial rooms, a staff room, and lockers in the basement. The college plans to have a loft and storage rooms on the mezzanine floor.
The first floor will contain a classroom, a terrace porch, and a bridge connecting the existing structures. The college also plans to equip every classroom with a smartboard. According to KNC’s official statement, this facility is ecologically friendly, highlighting the college’s dedication to “an environmentally sustainable future”.
Event Organized along with COVID-19 Regulations, DU-VC talks about NEP
Many prominent officials attended the foundation laying ceremony on Monday. Dean of Colleges Balaram Pani, Director South Campus Prakash Singh, and KNC Governing Body Chairman Jaydeep Ahuja were among them. The number of attendees was limited in accordance with COVID-19 regulation. The event was also broadcast live on the college’s YouTube account.
Principal Kalpana Bhakuni spoke at the ceremony about KNC’s effective utilization of digital technology for education. This allowed the college to effortlessly continue the teaching and learning process during the pandemic. One of its provisions includes ‘Recharge the Learning Scheme’, in which the college helped students with data recharge for a seamless online class experience.
The DU VC spoke about the National Education Policy as well. The university has recently taken steps to implement the policy. Singh emphasized the need to “encourage imagination, originality, and creativity in the students”, adding that NEP would not lead to job losses. He further had to say this:
“It is the responsibility of the higher educational institutes to give a civilized mindset to the country, to the society, and if we are not doing it then it needs correction”. Stressing on the need for a positive student welfare-oriented approach, he also asked for teacher support for the controversial policy.
