On 10th October, the Delhi University Teachers’ Association censured the signing of the Tripartite agreement between the UGC, HRD Ministry, and DU.They described it as a step towards privatisation.
According to the teachers body, the tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) demanded universities to continuously increase their internal (self-generated) financial resources through fee hike, revenue earning from commercial courses, engagement in other commercial activities and manage a bigger portion of their research activities through extraneous funding.
They allege that the MoU initiates steps towards the privatisation pattern that structures the core of the draft National Education Policy (NEP).
DUTA will broaden and intensify its struggle against the NEP as well as instruments of privatisation such as the tripartite MoU, they further added.
The professors had been protesting against the signing of the MoU between the HRD Ministry, UGC, and Delhi University since past one year.
