Problems exist all over the planet with each country facing a multitude of crises on its own. The realisation that we, as a force dedicated to the betterment of this planet, are stronger together, drove Enactus KMC to invite Enactus Memorial from Canada for a week-long exchange programme. The programme was the product of months of brainstorming and hard work which led to an intense and highly productive seven days with the team from Memorial University.
The road to a successful confluence of ideas was paved with a mutual exchange of cultures. Introducing the incoming team to the sheer variety in everything in India was, indeed, an exciting and obvious point to the start of the week. The two teams visited Dilli Haat and acquainted Shaun, Emily, and Bill with the handicrafts and food available. Visits to the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Jhandewalan Mandir, and a nearby dargah added to the diversity in the experience of India for the visiting team.

The seven-day affair involved copious amounts of effort from both teams to understand the problems of each other’s adopted communities and the need for the same. For this, a formal exchange of ideas was placed by teaching the Memorial team the processes of the two ongoing projects of Enactus KMC- Dor and Patradya. Under these, team Memorial learnt the art of tie & dye along with that of making edible utensils. Similarly, the KMC team learnt the intricacies of Memorial’s project on hydroponics- the same that took them to the finals of the Enactus World Cup and ultimately became the winning project.
The exchange programme grew to a crescendo with a formal R&D session wherein Enactus Memorial imparted the wisdom they had earned from their years of experience in the smooth functioning of an Enactus family. For Enactus KMC, this was one of the most deeply stimulating and invigorating experiences and bore the maximum fruit in terms of a mutual exchange of ideas. The team from KMC highlighted a number of grassroot issues in a country so different from Canada, along with a focus on the solutions to deal with the same. The stark difference in the realities of the two countries sensitised the two teams to the problems of the other, achieving the main objective of the first-ever Enactus exchange programme in the world.

Over a short period of seven days, the members of both the teams became family. Right from exploring various delicacies that were eaten using the cutlery produced under project Patradya to going sightseeing a number of places including the grand Taj Mahal, they did it all. However, the recognition that Enactus, as a whole, is a unit stronger when united, prompted the team from KMC to organise a formal Meet and Greet with Enactus teams from various colleges over Delhi NCR and beyond. The teams from these colleges got to attend a session with the world champions wherein the questions that flowed strengthened the quality of discussion.
The exchange programme culminated in the official beginning of a campaign called the Spirit of Enactus. Under this campaign, the aim is for all teams under Enactus to collaborate and achieve the true aim of Enactus- helping those in need through entrepreneurial activities. The sharing of resources and ideas for the greater good is the ultimate goal of this campaign- something that came out of the beautiful experience of the week-long programme. Enactus Memorial and Enactus KMC officially kickstarted this campaign in the presence of the thirty teams invited for the final day of the week.
The motto of Enactus is Together We Win. It is keeping this spirit in mind that this exchange programme was organised and the Spirit of Enactus campaign launched. The team at KMC had a wonderful time hosting Enactus Memorial and exhort all teams within Delhi University to join the cause of the greater good.
