The way Mumbai is known as the ‘sapno ki nagri’, the Delhi University campus, be it north or south can be called ‘aakankshaon ki tapri’. Every student who steps into the campus comes with a lot of presumed notions. How often are these notions or expectations met?

EXPECTED ZING FOUND MISSING

“I was quite persistent to join DU and had gone against my parents and their MBBS dreams to pursue Mass Communication in DU.So,naturally I had expected quite much thrill and excitement. But,the college campus itself is so small that I almost don’t want to attend classes and I’ve already missed many. And the teachers are good but that ‘zing’ I thought I would get every time I saw my college never came. But it’s childish too,so,I am going on just okay with¬†Kalindi.” – Nyiman Socia,Kalindi College

SOCIETIES ADD COLOURS TO COLLEGE LIFE

“Unfortunately for me,the movies had set unrealistic expectations from colleges. It’s not just a glamorous place where you get to bunk classes and simply hang out. Attendance is already taking it’s toll on me and the days are very hectic. But the best part about college will always be it’s societies and I am lucky to be a part of the society of my choice.” – Nimisha Bansal,Lady Shri Ram College For Women

WOMEN’S COLLEGE – BOON OR BANE?

“So when I had got admission in a women’s college,I was pretty sure that I am going to get all bored because I am that kind of a person who¬† has always had more of guy friends than girl friends. So the thought of seeing ladies around me for the next three years was haunting me every day and night but the time I actually stepped into my college,my perceptions changed completely. Now I don’t see people around me as men or women,I see them as humans or I should say, individuals¬†who are so good at opinions.” – Pranjal Karwal,Miranda House

NEW LIFE,NEW CAMPUS,NEW FRIENDS!

“I was initially reserved about the fact¬†of not being a Delhi-ite. I thought I would not be able to adjust here and make companions but much against my belief people here turned out to be amazing and the bond that is being developed between us,I am sure will last up to eternity. Also,I thought that Seniors would authorize their dominance over us but I was wrong.” – Rishav Sikaria,SGTB Khalsa College

CANTEEN-WHERE PEOPLE AND FOOD MEET

“Faculty is quite nice of English Honours and infrastructure wise I would rate the college average, still it is well maintained. And canteen is also an another plus point of the college. It is¬†pocket-friendly.I am enjoying and living my moment in DCAC.It is good rather than what I expected.I am really very happy with my college in terms of crowd.” – Sahil Lodwal,Delhi College of Arts and Commerce

COLLEGE ENVIRONMENT-WARMING AND WELCOMING

“College life is more about knowing yourself, your capabilities, your backdrops and working upon them. And yes,the environment plays an important role for the same.Talking about my college, the students¬†are inviting and warm more than expected.I believe this will help me a lot in the long run.” – Palak Thakar, IP College For Women.

WORLD CLASS FACULTY

“Kamala Nehru College is a very good college but as everyone says that teachers in colleges are not really concerned about the students, here in Kamala Nehru College, it is totally different. The teachers here are very helpful and concerned about the students. We feel like someone in the college do care about the well being of the students. This thing about my college is something I like the most above all pros” – Yuwasha Sharma,Kamala Nehru College

MORNING ATTENDANCE ALARMS

“My expectations from college is that college life is most joyful and energetic life but the reality is that it is very boring. We come here just like robots according to strict time schedules, attend classes just for attendance and simply go back.” – Neha,Gargi College

HUGE EXPECTATIONS RUINED REALITY

“I believed that SRCC is a big name.I had very high expectations that it is something different with amazing faculty, good peer group and other such stuffs.Though the reality is that it is only a name.It has an amazing infrastructure, good faculty, but nothing that makes it extra-ordinary.” – a student from SRCC
