People will wish Happy Women’s day by messages, cards or roses but none would be able to match what McDonald’s has done this year to honor the pretty ladies out there. In a bid to celebrate International Women’s day by acknowledging the contribution of women in the world,McDonald’s decided to flip its logo (the iconic M).The American fast food giant certainly melted a lot of hearts when it’s changed logo could be seen on it’s Twitter and Instagram handles as well.
The innovative initiative where it flipped its “hallmark golden arches” is a very welcome gesture and certainly honours women and their achievements.McDonald’s Chief Diversity Officer Wendy Lewis was reported saying that ‘In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day on March 8 in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.’
The chain claimed that 62 percent of their employees were women and six out of ten restaurant managers at McDonald’s were women. The fast food giant is also running a campaign on it’s website where women employees share the stories of their inspirational lives.
Well after the me too campaign and the Time’s Up movement, the McDonald’s initiative is certainly aimed at solidarity of individuals for creating a women friendly world where the they are respected, loved and cherished to the fullest. It may be a brand initiative but it certainly has the approval of its customers as well as women all over the world who are relishing this initiative as much as the mouth watering burgers McDonald’s has to offer.
