In another interesting turn of events the Delhi high court on Wednesday stated that concealment of an old criminal case against the newly elected President of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) is “very serious”.
“It is very serious. It is concealment‚Äù the high court said while issuing notice to Tuseed and Delhi University on an application by ABVP‚Äôs Rajat Chaudhary, who contested polls against Tuseed and lost.
The application was filed by ABVP’s Rajat Chaudhary filed in a pending petition by Rocky Tuseed in which he has challenged the DU election panel‚Äôs order rejecting his nomination for the polls on the grounds of disciplinary action.Chaudhary‚Äôs plea claimed that Tuseed has not disclosed to DU authorities that an FIR was lodged against him in 2014 at Rajouri Garden police station for the alleged offences of causing hurt, attempt to murder, trespass and common intention and that he had remained in judicial custody from August 28, 2014 to September 15, 2014. A charge sheet was also filed in the case.Chaudhary said as per the guidelines of the Lyngdoh committee, the candidate shall not have a previous criminal record, nor tried or convicted of any criminal offence and shall not have been subject to any disciplinary action by the university authorities.
Chaudhary sought to recall the high court’s September 8 and September 12 interim orders by which Tuseed was allowed to contest the polls, following which the NSUI candidate went on to win the presidential election.
However,in their defence NSUI did a press release in which it is stated that this as a ‚Äòmisuse of government machinery‚Äô saying ‚ÄúNSUI will not bow down to fascist forces who are misusing government machinery to malign its image. We have complete confidence in the judiciary. BJP will do a good job to face us in a democratic contest and not through frivolous pleas,which the court has to refuse entertain.”
Now Tuseed has to respond to the plea by November 15th as The court listed the matter for hearing on November 15.
DUSU Election 2017 comes to an end on September 13,2017 with its results, according to Which Congress-backed NSUI won the posts of president and vice president and the RSS affliliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won the posts of secretary and joint secretary.
Earlier,this month In the major turnout of events,newly elected DUSU President Rocky tuseed was almost barred from contesting elections on diffrent grounds.
