John Abraham’s Event At North Campus Cancelled,ABVP Leader Cites Permission Issue While Police Denies Not Giving Permission

The Starcast of upcoming movie Satyameva Jayate was supposed to visit Arts Faculty today.The event was organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) as a part of the event : Sankalp Se Siddhi,organised to celebrate the 76th anniversary of Quit India Movement.

Bollywood stars John Abraham,Manoj Bajpayee and Nora Fatehi were to attend the event which was cancelled yesterday.

“Since Independence Day is around the corner, we were not given permission by the Delhi Police, as a large crowd was expected owing to the popularity of the actors. The event stands cancelled as of now, but we might plan it after August 15. Keeping security concerns in mind, the actors also thought that it was better to postpone the event.” Mahamedhaa Nagar told Times of India.

On the contrary,Delhi Police has denied the claim of ABVP Leader citing lack of permission from the police.

“We haven’t denied permission for the event. We have received a WhatsApp message from the students organising the event today, that the event is cancelled. We have not asked them to cancel the event or refused permission to organise it in the campus. In this case, it was not cancelled because of Independence Day security concerns.‚Äù¬†Ram Avtar Tyagi, SHO Maurice Nagar told Times of India.
