Juxtapose is an initiative led by Lady Shri Ram College for Women’s Journalism Department, and this journey of carrying the legacy forward is infinite and we are determined to make it bigger and better each year!

Juxtapose in literal terms means “to place different things side by side to compare or contrast them”. Our theme for this year i.e., “On Battlefield: Death or Rebirth of Media?” does justice to our event and to the term Juxtapose as we thrive to analyze and take in account the impacts and changing patterns of media.

With the advancements in technology, the spectrum of media and its reach have widened. The lost-old days of sitting together on a Sunday afternoon to watch films on Doordarshan are now replaced with the colorful, air-conditioned movie theatres and rooms. The rise in freedom to express has also brought with it the issues of fake news and plagiarism. Media has enabled worldwide connectivity, but with this smart technology and internet accessibility, we are in a close-knit bond with the evils of stalking, trolling, morphing and blackmailing.

Media is criticised as well as approved of in equal proportion by the masses. With the advent of technology and new trends, it is riding on an oblivious path. A path, which would either uplift us or drown us deep.

Taking all of this into consideration, we, as the budding journalists and avid media users, take this thoughtful effort to explore and analyze the possibilities and the extent to which media has an impact on the society and on us. We aim at analyzing and deliberating on #willmediasurvive?

With this, we, the students of the Journalism Department of Lady Shri Ram College for Women cordially invite you for our annual academic meet-Juxtapose 2018 on the 27th and 28th September 2018.
