In a shocking incident that has surfaced, a teacher of Delhi University’s Lakshmibai College has been booked for allegedly forging a Supreme Court order to taint the image of the principal of the college.
Professor MP Yadav posted a fake Supreme Court judgment on social media that sentenced the college principal to 20 years in prison for harassing him for one year.                Principal Pratyush Vatsalya dismissed the “false allegations” made out against her. She told the Times of India that Yadav had been troubling her since her appointment as principal in 2016. The principal counter-alleged that the assistant professor had sent her fake letters on behalf of the DU vice-chancellor and registrar and even the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
“I complained against Yadav several times and approached police in October after a letter supposedly from the VC’s office reached me,” Vatsalya said.
The entire incident has been condemned by the Delhi University Principal’s Association. Professor MP Yadav has been rapped for “cyber-bullying, intimidation and harassment, besides professional irreparable harm to the Principal’s reputation and immeasurable personal anguish and suffering to her.”                    DUPA has also written to Delhi University Teacher’s Association(DUTA) to take action against the circulation of the fake news.
Incidents of this kind call for attention from every end so as to look into the functioning of the system and to address the loopholes at the earliest. Such shameful acts deliberately portray a negative image of the University, and are of serious concern.
