Pending promotions of library and other non- teaching staff has led to the shut down of libraries and labs in different colleges of Delhi University. The staff sat on protest outside the Art Faculty building demanding that the Recruitment Rules (RR) be implemented.

A Comprehensive Committee of professors from the University prepared a draft – University of Delhi (Non- Teaching) Recruitment Rules (RR) in 2018, according to which it was proposed that staffs members working for long duration to be given promotion after considering their qualifications but no such promotions were considered.

President of Delhi University Library Association, Mr Sanjay Singh in a statement said “No promotions have taken place for the staff associated with library and labs from past 20-25 years.”

The shut down of these facilities raises a big question mark on the policies followed by the University.
