In MU’s 100 year history this incident is one of a kind. The results have now been delayed by over 2 months. Despite giving 4 extra non-instructional days to students and teachers so that the deadline of July 31st 2017 could be met, until now, nothing has come.

According to the official, so far, results of 173 courses of Mumbai University have been declared. He also said that around 90,000 answer sheets are yet to be evaluated.

This delay in declaration of results has resulted in state wide protests.Thousands of students from Mumbai University protested against the Vice Chancellor. Now,Shiv Sena also has asked for removal of the Mumbai University Vice Chancellor.

Today, the appointments in institutions are being made based on their inclination towards the ideology of the Sangh. While this is being done, one should not ignore the person’s capabilities and merits” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said.

“The BJP has made the (RJD-JD(U)) ministry in Bihar fall in the name of political and administrative anarchy. Applying the same standards, the BJP-led Maharashtra government should expel Mumbai University Vice Chancellor, holding him responsible for the mismanagement” it said.

Thousands of students are now in a fix as they are unable to complete admission formalities in different colleges across the globe as the university hasn’t declared the results till now.

The delay caused is due to the Mumbai University’s online assessment system.Shiv Sena has earlier protested against the online evaluation system adopted by the university.

Even though Shiv Sena and BJP rule the state together, both parties have taken an opposing stand on most of the issues.

The Maharashtra Congress on Saturday demanded that Governor C.V. Rao accept moral responsibility for the mess in declaring this year’s Mumbai University examinations and resign. In a strong statement, state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant also demanded that the Mumbai University Vice Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh be sacked and Education Minister Vinod Tawde and Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Ravindra Waikar be dismissed from the cabinet.
