Lady Shri Ram College is a premier college of the University of Delhi. The college broke all records of previous high cut offs this year. They announced the first cut off of Economics, Political Science and Psychology honours courses at an unprecedented 100%. Though many seats across top colleges were filled, this was not so at LSR.
ZERO ADMISSIONS AT LSR
Admissions under the first cut off to Delhi University colleges were closed on 17 October 2020. As on that day there were zero admissions in Economics honours at LSR. The college had previously pegged the cut off at 100 percent. They were the only college to do so for the course. The data about zero enrollment was updated on the LSR College website. The other courses that were Political science honours and Psychology honours. They admitted twenty and three students respectively. This is despite 35000 of the 70000 seats being filled in the University at large.
SECOND CUT OFF
All top colleges including LSR have now marked their new cut offs just marginally below the original. For Economic honours the percentage is now one percentage point lower. Simialary 0.5 percantage points have been dropped for the Political Science and Psychology courses.
EXPLANATION
An unnamed source reported to the Hindustan Times. The source stated that the college set such a high cut off keeping in mind the past record of the college where there had been incidents of over admissions. The principal of LSR College, Suman Sharma told the same newspaper that they did recieve 25 applications for Economics. All of them were rejected as they did not meet the cut off.
Meanwhile due to the drop in certain courses at prestigious colleges, the second cut off is witnessing withdrawals cancellations. This indicates movement of students within colleges and courses. It can be expected that the second cut off sees many courses closing for the third cut off across colleges like LSR.
