NSUI Led DUSU Launches Consultations Across DU On A Students Rights Charter

The recent press release of NSUI dated 17th January 2018 revealed that the NSUI led DUSU is planning to come up with a Delhi University Students Charter guaranteeing the rights of students of Delhi University.According to the release,the charter is on similar lines with the promises made by the NSUI which guaranteed it’s win after a record four years.NSUI had made two promises which were restoration of free speech and defining the democratic role of student unions in the university campus.

The proposed charter seeks to recognize the rights of the students and create a cohesive environment between them and the university officials.Delhi University Students Charter is being prepared by NSUI in consultation with the University of Delhi and Delhi University Student’s Association.It has also been brought to notice that the charter will be used for National Consultation and will act as a stepping stone towards the creation of the Students Rights Act.

This proposed charter of NSUI is a welcome move in these troubled times.At times many conflicts have been reported between the students and their universities be it DU,JNU,BHU or others.The NSUI conceived charter seeks to end the deadlock which is created between the university and its students during such tension.

These instances certainly compromise with assurances of student welfare and the reputation of these esteemed institutions.A charter enshrining the rights of the students will certainly ease the situation and above all it will aim at providing a wholesome environment to the students.It will also ensure that students and the administration cooperate with each other.
