Pleas by students stating that the OBE result of their final-year exams, which were conducted in August, has not been declared yet and due to which they are unable to join higher studies were made. This led to the High Court order.

The High Court will hear the case again on November 26. It has asked Professor D.S. Rawat, Dean of Examination to join the video conferencing proceeding on the next date.

Initially, the petition was filed challenging the varsity’s decision to hold online OBE, as per the UGC guidelines, for final-year undergraduate courses which were in long-form exams. Subsequently, the High Court has been hearing and passing an order on various grievances related to students due to the unprecedented pandemic situation.
The OBE exams were held in August for the batch which passed out this year. The online mode of the exam was heavily criticized due to inaccessibility to resources and technical glitches. After mounting pressure from several quarters, the university also scheduled offline exams. Even the OBE result has caused several problems as students have reported discrepancies in results with several students being marked absent or awarded zero for the exams they appeared for.
