As schools have remained shut since the past six months due to COVID-19, the government of Odisha has decided to start lectures for classes one to eight via radio for all government institutions.
The ‘Radio Pathshala’ program, has started Monday, September 28, 2020, on regular basis. It will be aired on all radio stations of Odisha, stated, Samir Ranjan Dash, School and Mass Education Minister. Classes will be conducted from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 10:15 am. Students will have two classes every day.
Lessons to be available on DIKSHA
Earlier, the state had also decided to reduce the syllabus by 30 per cent for the academic session 2020-2021.
“Students had also been attending classes through smartphones earlier”, said the minister. “They would now also get this audio programme in the central government’s DIKSHA online platform”, he further added.
Bhupendra S Poonia, State Project Director, Odisha School Education Program Authority, has asked all District Project Coordinators, District Education Officers and the Block Education Officers to intimate all Headmasters and CRCCs to widely disseminate among the students and parents to listen to the programme.
Jharkhand’s Initiative
Shyam Kishore Singh Gandhi, the headmaster of a school in Jharkhand’s Dumka district has been adamant about students’ education and the lack of resources during the lockdown. To beat the odds of online learning, he has put up several loudspeakers across the Bankathi village where his Middle School is located, and classes are being held for two hours every day since April 16. Students sit near the loudspeakers put up on trees and walls at different locations, and attend their classes.
State governments, educational institutions and professionals are trying their best to bring every student under the umbrella of education. Making it accessible to as many students as possible, fighting the odds of online education.
