In view of rising COVID-19 cases in the Delhi NCR region, an emergency meeting was conducted to decide on the follow-up action to be taken on the campus. The official order released on the site states various precautions to be followed and the rules that will be enforced.

The order stated that although academic work will continue with all requirements, all the students have been advised to stay at home and prevent any visit to libraries and laboratories. Final year students were allowed on campus for academic needs from February.

Thirteen students and four staff members have been tested positive for covid-19 at St. Stephen’s College. Reportedly a few students went on an excursion to Dalhousie in late March. As of now, no outsiders entry will be permitted inside the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, hostels or halls. The official notice even debarred the booking of conference halls for any event until further notice. The situation will be reviewed in 10 days and the decisions will be changed accordingly.

Meanwhile, various societies like Chaitanya, Rajdhani College and Dramanomics, CVS are organising competitions and play screenings in offline mode. Just a few days back, many students took their demand to reopen the campus to Twitter with #reopenDU.

Delhi recorded the highest daily count of covid cases this year with 3,594 new cases. Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal has declared that Delhi is moving towards its fourth wave of covid-19.

It’s been more than a year since the campus was closed. In this year the university and its students have seen a lot many changes and happenings. From OBE to online fests, university life has changed completely. The dissatisfaction among first years for missing the fest season and the fear among third years that they might miss their farewell is a daily topic for discussion. The craving to be at college and the returning fear of covid-19 cases has left the students in a tussle, though they remain without any choice.
