The event kick-started with the CEO and Founder, Megha Bhatia speaking about the need for spreading awareness, imparting knowledge and sensitization towards the demonic social evil of child sexual abuse. A warm-up quiz was conducted to teach the attendees necessary information about POCSO, rights and safety. The audience was briefed about their successful campaign, ‘I Stand For Bachpan’ which had seen international support.

Emotions met voice when creative expression filled the room. Speakers performed emotionally moving prose and poetry which were diverse in their concepts. These included the perspective of an abused child, the subsequent effect on ‘Bachpan’, sexual violence in war and the struggles faced by children. Other speakers spoke of the need for self-realisation and confidence among young minds, the power of language and the increasing cases of child sexual abuse in India.

The audience felt the vibrating rendition of the musical prowess brought by amazing artists. Everyone jammed to songs with the underlying message of speaking up and realising our right to voice. A mime act was performed by young actors who artfully portrayed how child sexual abuse can have a tormenting impact on childhood and how raising one’s voice is the biggest step towards fighting this evil.

The perfect culmination to the event for the launch of their new campaign – ‘Pol Kholo’. Our Voix team briefed everyone about the future prospects of this new initiative which aims at breaking the silence and stigma engulfing child sexual abuse. Our Voix will continue making tangible efforts towards the prevention of child sexual abuse.
