The Journalism Department of Lady Shri Ram College for Women presents to you their Annual Academic Meet- JUXTAPOSE. Juxtapose is a two-day knowledge and fun-filled event, which comprises of various competitions as well as panel discussions, which aims at helping today’s youth to dig deeper into the various issues faced by and because of Media.

With the theme “On Battlefield: Death or Rebirth of media?”, the department takes an initiative to look into the current media patterns. The meet revolves around the basic notion of whether our media will survive or not. Media acts as a catalyst between the old and new generations and old and new forms of media. Our event debates on whether the emergence of New Mediums like the internet, mobiles, WhatsApp, Netflix, etc. would lead to a downfall in the age-old mediums of television, radio and letters. Our events also focus on the longevity and credibility of citizen journalism and freedom of the press.¬†

With this, we introduce one of our most important events- PANEL DISCUSSION.

Panel discussion is a highly informative, non-competitive event wherein we invite some of the brightest minds from the field of media and journalism to deliberate and express on topics concerning our event’s theme. We have Ms. Ritu Kapur, Ms. Neha Dixit, Mr. Nikhil Pahwa, Ms. Sunetra Choudhury as our panelists for the event. The event would be moderated by Ms. Marya Shakil Khan.

This year, we have chosen “The paradox of new media: who is the journalist if we are all newsmakers?” as the theme for Panel Discussion. It is a very important theme from the discussion point of view since we all are living in the world of sharing and re-tweeting. Amidst the factual and objective headlines, we often find sensationalized and fake stories and pictures.

In a time where falsehood flies and then the truth comes limping after, is fake news going to overpower the reality? If we all continue to post and share what is a hoax, what do you think the future of media is going to be like?
