Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winner novelist, Toni Morrison passed away this week, aged 88. As a renowned American writer, she wrote a diverse collection of fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and short stories. Some of her best-works being- ‘The Bluest Eye,’ ‘Song of Solomon,’ ‘Beloved’ and ‘A Mercy’, where she delves deeper into the lives of its African-American characters, bringing to light the atrocities inflicted upon them.
“Beloved” came to be known as one of her most famous literary works, which delves onto the themes of slavery, love and supernatural. Based on the true story of Margaret Garner, Toni Morrison manages to leave an indelible imprint on the mind of the readers. Her work, “Beloved” is also included in the English curriculum of many schools and colleges across the globe.
