While the pandemic gave the final year students a chance to appear for their final year exams from the comforts of their couches, for some the comfort wasn’t solace-full.
As per the lucid instructions for the first-ever Open Book Examination (OBE) conducted for the batch of 2017-20, students had the option of uploading the answer sheets on the OBE portal or e-mailing them at the official e-mail address of DU. However, e-mailing the answer sheets became a bottleneck for hundreds and thousands of students.

In her maiden edition of OBE, the University of Delhi successfully let 2,40,000 final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students appear for their exams.
DU, on jotting down the instructions explicitly on its website had stated that “the students of all undergraduate and postgraduate courses (regular, SOL and NCWEB) who for any reason fail to upload the answer sheets on the above portal can send the scanned images of the answer sheets in PDF format through e-mail at obescript@exam.du.ac.in”.
The students did what their unstable internet broadband allowed them to. Long before they could take a sigh of relief, DU declared the result.
To see “RESULT AWAITED” or “ABSENTEE” across the disciplines was, indeed, a thunderclap for many.
E-MAILING ANSWER SHEETS: A GUINEA PIG
To address the discrepancies, the University asked the students to send their answer sheets to their respective colleges. Here, their professors will be evaluating them, and the administration was asked to revert the marks.

The students did so. After 3 months, there is no response making e-mailing answer sheets look like a guinea pig.
A DEAD LETTER OR A BURNING ISSUE? | “RESULT AWAITED”: OBE 1.0
The students who were facing issues were asked to approach their Nodal officer within 10 days of the declaration of the result along with some requisite details.

However, for the University, this doesn’t seem like a burning issue anymore since nothing has been done so far.
