SFI Forms ‘Women Wall’ In North Campus To Fight Against Patriarchy

Patriarchy is basically defined as a system of society in which men hold the power and women are highly excluded from it. Even in our everyday life, we still witness numerous instances of patriarchy. But some cases are of national significance. One such case is the recent Kerala episode where women were denied entry in Sabarimala Temple. In order to assert their right to enter into the temple, lakhs of women lined up across the length of southern state of Kerala from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to form women’s wall.

Expressing solidarity to those women, around 50 women students from the Student’s Federation of India (SFI) assembled outside the Arts Faculty in North Campus on Friday to show up their enmity towards patriarchy in the campus premises or elsewhere. The women showed up their harmony and unanimity by lining up together forming a “women’s wall”. Thereafter the women took a pledge to express their disbelief in such a pathetic system of patriarchy.

The systematic patriarchy has still many traces be it in the professional life or the personal life. Whatever be the root cause of women’s subordination, still there are miles to go to end this basic obstacle in women’s development.
