Silver Jubilee Celebrations Begin At Maharaja Agrasen College

On October 10, 2018 the teachers and the students of Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University brimmed with joy and exuberance as they kick-started the Silver Jubilee celebration of the college on entering into the 25th year of its inception and excellence in higher education.

The special day began with the unveiling ceremony of the newly established Statue of Maharaja Agrasen by the Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr Sushil Kumar Gupta, Member of Rajya Sabha. Who is also an educationist, philanthropist and the, President of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi. A beautiful beginning was marked with lighting of the lamp and recital of Saraswati Vandana by the students from Septune society. ECA Convener, Dr Sangeeta Mittal welcomed everyone and introduced us to the legendary figure of Maharaja Agrasen. ACC Convenor, Dr Abha Mittal introduced the guests and members of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi who had facilitated in installing the statue of Maharaja Agrasen in the College. They were presented momentos as a token of respect and gratitude. It was followed by Principal Dr Sunil Sondhi’s address and encouragement for the students to be the remarkable members of the society. The Chairman of the Governing Body, Mr Siddharth Verma shared his words of wisdom. He spoke about the life of Maharaja Agrasen, a just ruler and how his ideals and values still hold essence in the contemporary times. Mr Sushil Kumar Gupta, Member of Rajya Sabha, the honorable chief guest talked about the importance of being an active citizen taking inspiration from Maharaja Agrasen’s life as a ruler and also how among the prejudices that still hold the nation back we need to carry out our responsibility as change makers.

This heartfelt exchange of ideas on this auspicious occasion was followed by the cultural event beautifully put together by the ECA Committee and Societies such as Nataraj, Septune, Qissa, Srijan and members from other societies. In all, the event was a huge success and marked a milestone in the journey of Maharaja Agrasen College, also giving a head start to its new chapter.
