“As soon the college staff got to know about the incident, they rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead,” said an Amity University spokesperson to Hindustan Times.

The police found no suicide note at the spot, but they found evidence that indicated Singh may have committed suicide.

“One slipper of the deceased was found at the fifth floor of the hostel and another was found near his body. No signs of scuffle were found at the spot from where he might have fallen or jumped,” said Noida superintendent of police, Dinesh Yadav to Hindustan Times.

In between all this,Manisha Singh, the sister of the deceased Udit Shankar Singh has denied all these claims of suicide and has raised questions on the working of Amity University and how the case was treated by Amity authorities. In her Facebook post, she has raised some serious questions on the facts of this case.

“He was a student at Amity University, Noida. He died early in the morning but was taken by the authorities at 1400 hours in the afternoon. How does a fully functioning campus, miss out on a body lying in its own blood for so long? They say my brother committed suicide. But we all know better than that. Amity being a massive, multi million university is trying to botch the entire investigation process. Udit died because of Amity being negligent. The floor he had allegedly fallen from has had a defective latch for quite some time and we’re told that students used to frequent that place for studying. What sort of an institution allows such a blatant violation of security regulations? How was there no one to keep a check on what the students do? Why was the latch not fixed timely?”

“We were asked to not approach media, when the Dean first called us up and we complied. But Amity’s spokesperson, Savita Mehta, had without the consent of my family released a statement in the media, painting it to be a suicide.”
